THE NEED: CHILDHOOD BURN SURVIVORS
7+ Million Children A Year Suffer From Burn Injuries Across Latin America. For child burn victims, the healing process can take 20 years or more, impacting the entire family. Designing ways to improve the healing process is an urgent global need, especially in nations with large populations living in poverty.
FIELD RESEARCH: 2 WEEKS, SANTIAGO, CHILE
COANIQUEM is a leading, internationally recognized nonprofit that provides free long-term treatment to pediatric burn victims across Latin America. Traveling to COANIQUEM pediatric burn rehabilitation center in Santiago, Chile to conduct design research on the challenges faced by children and the professionals and communities responsible for caring for them.
Project Overview: Transform the campus into a magical ecosystem inspired by Chile's diversity through both spatial and technology enhancements.
